Geography: Mexico is a high plateau with mountain chains on the east. It also consists of high elevations, deserts, and low coastal plains. It coastlines with The Gulf of Mexico, and Pacific Ocean. It's boarded by the United States (Mexico is 1/5th the size of the US). Belize and Guatemala are to the south.

Religions: There is no official religion in Mexico but 77% are roman catholic.

Political System:
  • self government and constitution (like the US)
  • head is the president (6 year term)
  • Has 3 branches; Executive, Legislative, Judicial

Languages: Main language is Spanish

History of immigrants: The Aztecs and Mayans are well known native civilizations. Also some of the earliest settlements also include Olmec, and Toltec.

  • Neta can be used in several ways, but often used "like really?" or "for real"
  • Chavo/Chava is a name used to call kids.

  • Folk songs called corridos share stories and are popular
  • Mariachi bands perform in street, parties, and restaurants
  • A popular dance known as the Mexican hat dance is performed by hopping steps and toe tapping movements
  • Luis Miguel is a well known Mexican pop singer around
  • Most dancers wear long and bright colored dresses that correspond to the particular dance or festival
  • Some famous people from Mexico include: Salma Hayek, Javier Hernandez, and Sara Ramirez
